At the launch event, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors, emphasized the company’s advancements in the electric vehicle sector. This growth trajectory follows the successful launch of the Nexon EV just four years ago.

Expanding EV Infrastructure

The expansion of India’s charging network has kept pace with the rise of EVs and is expected to double by the end of the decade. The Tata Curvv EV supports a 1.2C charging rate, enabling a range of 150 km with just 15 minutes of charging. The vehicle offers a total range of 585 km, with an anticipated real-world range of 400-425 km.

Battery Options and Performance

The Curvv EV is available with two battery pack options: a 45 kWh pack with a claimed range of 502 km and a 55 kWh pack with a claimed range of 585 km. In real-world conditions, these packs are expected to deliver up to 350 km and 425 km, respectively. The Curvv EV also features vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle functionality, adding to its versatility.

Safety and Practical Features

Safety is a key focus for the Curvv EV, which includes six airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), all-wheel disc brakes, and acoustic alerts for pedestrian safety. The vehicle is also equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). For practicality, the Curvv EV offers a 500-litre boot and a fully usable front trunk (frunk).

ICE Variant Specifications

The Tata Curvv ICE variant will be available with three engine options: two petrol and one diesel. The petrol variants feature the new Hyperion GDi engine, delivering 125 hp and 225 Nm of torque. The diesel variant will introduce a dual-clutch transmission for the first time in Tata’s lineup.

Key Specifications

Both versions of the Tata Curvv come with 18-inch wheels, a ground clearance of 190 mm, and a water-wading depth of 450 mm. The vehicle is designed with a balanced 50:50 weight distribution and provides ample storage space with a 500-litre boot capacity.

Tata Motors’ launch of the Curvv EV signifies a significant advancement in the company’s commitment to providing cutting-edge, eco-friendly vehicles to the Indian market. With competitive pricing, robust performance, and a host of practical features, the Tata Curvv is set to make a substantial impact on the automotive landscape in India.
